House of Diplomacy at our Brussels office

A Platform for Knowledge Exchange and Diplomacy

We had another engaging and enjoyable event during the September edition of the House of Diplomacy at our Brussels office.

This exclusive platform continues to offer an unparalleled opportunity for diplomats, international relations advisors, and legal experts to come together, share insights, and discuss the key issues shaping global relations.

The September session was led by Dr. Sarah Karinge (PhD, VUB), who delivered a powerful presentation on the intersections between development, communication, diplomacy, and law. She expertly highlighted how these fields are deeply interconnected, demonstrating how diplomacy and law function as key drivers in both global development and effective communication strategies on the world stage.

A Successful Afternoon of Interaction and Networking

A select audience of diplomats and international relations professionals attended, and their active participation ensured a successful and intellectually stimulating afternoon. Dr. Karinge's insights were met with enthusiastic engagement, sparking deep discussions that extended beyond the presentation itself. The event was also enriched by the opportunity for informal interaction, which was enhanced by the delicious food and welcoming atmosphere at our office.

These face-to-face conversations allowed attendees to further develop their understanding of the topics and apply them to real-world diplomatic challenges, reinforcing the value of this unique gathering.

Looking Ahead to October: Sovereignty and Civil Law

We’re already preparing for an exciting continuation in October, where we will dive into another critical topic. Jo Vanbelle, our managing partner and lecturer at the VUB, will lead the discussion on sovereignty in civil law relationships. This session will explore complex issues such as how sovereignty is defined and limited in cases involving debt collection from foreign powers and organizations. His presentation will offer a practical lens on how these legal principles interact with diplomacy and international relations, providing valuable insights for both legal practitioners and diplomatic representatives.

It promises to be another thought-provoking and essential conversation, showcasing the intersection of law and diplomacy in everyday practice.

A Platform for the Future of Diplomacy and Law

The House of Diplomacy continues to be an exciting initiative, offering in-depth analysis of contemporary global challenges. By bridging the worlds of diplomacy, law, and international relations, this platform enables experts to collaborate and address the complexities of our interconnected world.

We look forward to welcoming more professionals and thought leaders as we build a network that fosters understanding and cooperation on a global scale.
